The campground has some decent hiking near by and is near the starting point for some off roading, so the access road to the entrance of the camp ground can be a little rough in spots. The roads are in need of repair, with numerous potholes, some very large, but the attendant did say that the park was on the CoEs list for repairs. The easy trails include a 1.2 mile loop around Horseshoe Lake, and 5 mile Shady Rest trail, while the harder ones are tough climbs up to the Mammoth Ski Area so you can fly downhill.
